The Raman Research Institute
Another engaging annual visit for the senior school students is to the lush green environs of The Raman Research Institute in Bengaluru. The museum within houses Sir C.V. Raman’s earliest scientific interests from the harmonics of his mother’s veena to his prized collection of gems and crystals from the world over. The Light and Matter Physics labs taught students quantum interactions between room temperature/laser cooled Alkali atoms with photons to understand the quantification of non-linear quantum correlations at very low light intensities. The emphasis was on understanding the generation and quantification of non-linear quantum correlations at very low light intensities. Students get a rare chance to engage with the world of science and debate with some of the best minds in the field on campus.
