Visit to Café Plume

Students of Grades 9 and 10 participated in an immersive and interactive culinary workshop at Café Plume. Students interviewed in French, the owner of the café and French Pastry Head Chef, Ms. Aurélie Lalande. The intense Q & A sessions on her personal trajectory, the French culture, gastronomy, business and finance with a native French speaker, opened the door to the world of French pastry making and entrepreneurship in India. The highlight was the hands-on cookie making workshop and tasting of authentic French mini desserts and tarts called Mignardises.

Visit to ICTS Prism 02: A hands-on exploration of everyday physical phenomena

Students of grades 9 ICSE, 9 IGCSE, 11 ISC and AS attended Prism 02, a hands-on exploration of everyday physical phenomena. Mr. Kaushik Basu from the University of California, Berkeley engaged the students with various activities on topics ranging from static electricity, magnetism to experiencing sound waves by exploring the interference of light waves to create colour and patterns.

Visit to Baptist Hospital – The Physics of ‘Medical Imaging’

A-Level students had an opportunity to visit Baptist Hospital to observe how learning from their Physics topic on ‘Medical Imaging’ translated into real life. Students were fascinated to explore ultrasound images formed during a scan. They also got to compare X-ray and CT-scan images of different parts of the body. It was an extremely fulfilling and enriching experience!

Visit to Vimor Museum of Living Textiles

Our Grades 9 and 11 Art students had a peek into the rich heritage textile of our nation rediscovering the long forgotten and ancient weaves at the Vimor Museum of Living Textiles, Bangalore.

Graphic Art Camp at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath

The Art students of Senior School had another incredible opportunity of attending a three-day workshop on printing at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. Students were introduced to various modes of printing such as cyanotype, collagraphy and planography. The fledgling artists put their newly acquired skills to the test by creating unique works of art as well!

Rivers of Live@ Azim Premji University

Students of Grades 9 and 10 IGCSE got an opportunity to visit a photography exhibition on different physical features and problems associated with rivers like river basins, deltas, meanders and estuaries. They also attended a seminar led by conservationist and researcher, Mr. Subrat K Behra who has contributed immensely through his field research and projects to increase the Gharials’ count in Gandak River, a tributary of River Ganga.

Recounting this incredible experience, here is what our students had to say!

“It was an insightful trip about the endangered Gharial reptiles and how a group of people worked in increasing their numbers from 52 to 650. Not only did we learn about a new reptile species but also our hand in polluting the basins across India.”

“It was one-of-a-kind experience! I never thought about the connection between rivers and gharials. The seminar was interesting and made me realise that we should take serious action NOW!""

“The seminar highlighted the importance of the natural habitat that we live in, and the gallery walk made us feel positive about the world!”

Visit to National Gallery of Modern Art

Art students from Grades 9 to 12 visited NGMA on 17 June 2022, to enjoy a retrospective show on Upendra Maharathi's life and art. The high impact work is best heard from the students themselves!

It was a great experience! The variety of artwork representing different cultures, mediums, techniques, and more was stunning. From the vibrant and intricate weave installation to the rough sketches of artists, one could deeply explore different types of art. I truly enjoyed the visit and hope to go to another gallery soon! Diya Choudhari 10 IGCSE Art.

Upendra Maharathi’s work in the National Gallery of Modern Art, Bangalore, was truly something different! He showed a crystal clear interest in topics like Mahatma Gandhi, the life of Buddha, and also personifying Nature. His interest in portraying politics was very evident! The most remarkable work was a linoleum print of Rabindranath Tagore. I liked it because I had done something similar for my art portfolio. The visit to this gallery was a truly unique experience! Dhruva, 10 IGCSE Art.

Visit to BIO-NEST

Bio-NEST at IKP EDEN in Koramangala is a wet-laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment such as biochemistry analyser, thermal cycler, Class II Biosafety cabinets along with cell culture and tissue engineering. Our grade 12 students visited the lab for an exposure to the various areas of stem cell research and were captivated by the inspired work going on at the lab!

Student’s Feedback

It was a fascinating trip! Bio-NEST began as a startup company that generated hydrogen gas from waste to a more sustainable environment. They explained how they developed it from scratch through funding from the IKEP lab. The exposure to the machinery and other equipment in the lab was probably the highlight of the whole visit as this machinery is extremely expensive and rare to find. We were also informed about the various internship opportunities for different age groups. Cancer cells were another important topic we discussed…their research taught us how mundane activities might lead to the development of cancer. It was an unforgettable experience that helped us understand microbiology and entrepreneurship!
- Anvitha Ramachandra, Grade 12 ISC

I really appreciated the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs brimming with new ideas and technology. This gave me a glimpse of the competition and innovations coming up in the real world and was as a real eye opener for me.
- Mihika V Nambiar, AL

I was fascinated to know more about metastatic cancer cells and the drugs that treat them. It was exciting to link the concepts learnt in the classroom and the research in the real world.
- Shreya Rao, AL

As a future Biology scientist, I especially enjoyed the working room, where I saw how engineering plays an integral part in creating medical solutions.
- Karina Bhaskar, AL

I was exposed to all kinds of state-of-the-art technology, such as a 3D printer, which produces drone parts and a magnetic stirrer to help different chemicals. It was good!
- Shreya Shiju, AL

Visit to Cubbon Park
