Bastille Day was celebrated at NAFL on 11 and 12 July, 2018.
On 11th July, 2018, the French students of grades 6 to 9 organised a fun-filled carnival on the school grounds, with a host of interactive activities. Grade 6 had handmade products for sale. Grade 7 re-created Le Musée Grévin, a wax museum in Paris of iconic French personalities as well as Questions pour un champion, a famous French quiz show. Grade 8 offered up their own brand of Theatre de Guignol, a famous French Puppet Show company with an outdoor theatre experience that they scripted and directed themselves! Grade 9 presented a version of the iconic Musée du Louvre on French art and artistes with fun games such as La Roue de la Fortune (The Wheel of Fortune), French Jenga, Attacher La Moustache à Salvador Dali (Draw a Moustache on Salvador Dali), culminating with a team event La Grande Course (The Amazing Race)! The highlight of the afternoon was a taste of French cuisine from Casse Croute, the French food truck managed by Nicolas Grossemy and a dessert truck with variations of Funnel Burger Cake and ice cream!
On 12th July, 2018, students of grade 1 to 5 celebrated French Day through a special assembly that showcased a variety of performances in music, dance, a fashion walk on French couture, a quiz on France and a documentary on the most beautiful places to visit in France! The children also enjoyed a special French snack box with chocolate croissants and potato crisps!
